Frequently Asked Questions
Why do owners sell their memberships?
Owners sell their memberships for a variety of reasons. Unfortunately death of a spouse, or divorce are two of the most common reasons. Some people need some quick cash, or need to lower their debt ratio, and some just can't afford the monthly payments.
Once I buy my membership are there any additional fees I'll have to pay?
Yes, you will pay a yearly maintenance fee, which is used to keep our resorts in their excellent condition. This can be paid yearly, but is usually paid quarterly. All memberships we sell have the dues paid up through the current quarter. Maintenance dues can only be raised a maximum of 5% per year, and are not raised every year. If you break your vacation time down into smaller trips, on your second and successive trips each year you will pay a small housekeeping fee per vacation not per day. Usually $40 - $55 dollars depending on the size of your unit. Your first credit usage each year does not get charged this, nor is it applied to bonus time vacations. Also, just a few of our resorts are required to charge a Transient Occupancy Tax (T.O.T), in order to cover the city's extra police, fire, garbage, etc. personnel because of the resort traffic. This is only at a few resorts and is only a couple of dollars a day.
Will I receive any books, etc. after I become an owner, and can I attend owner education classes?
Yes, At this time whether you buy a new membership, a "used" membership, or are willed one by Great Aunt Martha, your owner rights are exactly the same. As soon as the membership is transferred into your name, you will receive a new owner card, and the full WorldMark notebook with all club guidelines and pictures/information on each resort. You will also receive WorldMark's monthly "Destinations" magazine. You can also receive our free monthly newsletter that we e-mail out which will give you the latest information on what is happening with WorldMark, as well as a review of one of the resorts, and our current inventory available for purchase.
Do you finance memberships?
Unfortunately we do not offer in-house financing. On our Financing page we provide a link to Tammac Financial, as well as discussing other payment options.
How long can you keep credits in your account?
You can always keep two full years worth of credits in your account. At the beginning of your anniversary month (the month your membership receives credits) you will receive a third years credits. Trendwest will give you until the end of that month to either make a reservation (for up to thirteen months from the date you book) using at least one years credits, or you can bank them in RCI or II for another two years to use on exchange vacations. The credits count as used as soon as you book the vacation, even if you are not actually taking the vacation for a year from now.
Can the number of credits it takes to stay somewhere change?
No, once the amount of credits is set for a resort that amount of credits will never change. New resorts will be awarded a credit value by the location, size, and number of bedrooms. There is some small flucuation of the season dates, but actual credit values do not change. So your vacation "buying power" twenty years from now is the same as today!
I already own a WorldMark membership, can I just buy more credits from you?
Yes,you certainly can, please call Toll Free 1-866-500-2372 for more information on how that works, and how we can combine them with your existing membership.
